Today's subject: Summer
Todays topic...Summer!
Now, as I recall, from my youth...we used to have a season called Summer. And during that long-forgotten season, we had sunny days, blue skies, nice green lawns...and even the smell of freshly mown grass. People would sit outside and mingle with their neighbors, and the smell of barbecue went right through the neighborhood. Some people had a couple of beers, and some people had a glass or two of wine...and all was good.
The children played happily in the yard, swimming in their one foot rubber pool..the animals played together..dogs and cats getting along! The flowers grew neatly and the weeds stayed away. (Well, there were some stubborn dandelions). But all in all it was good.
Now, this Season usually lasted somewhere between June 21.....and (sheesh..I forget when Autumn used to start) let's say Sept 21. just for the heck of it.
Oh yes..there were occasional rainy days..but we needed those..to keep the grass green and the flowers growing.
Also...we didn't have to use our furnaces at all during this wonderful Wonderland period.
My question is..where has that happy time gone? Will it ever return? Where is Summer? Or maybe, more to the point...on what DAY will Summer occur? It's a mystery now, and we are never prepared for it. It could happen any day..and only once.
I think we should rename the Seasons...Let's start with Winter...then Spring...then Rainy..then the One unknown day of Summer, and then Fall again.
In reference to the above, we should also proclaim a new Annual Holiday..it shall be called Summer Day. Now, no-one will know for sure when this day will occur, but...if it's a nice day..then all towns, cities, villages and outposts should close down for that day!
So, that's my take on Summer. Please note, this is not a Rant. Just a commentary on the current situation.

Summer is too short!! Boo Hoo wahhh.....
Well ... in Florida we have summer year round .. actually, it is just hot and hotter here. Oh yeah .. and tourist season. Can't forget that one.
Now it's hot.
