Big Important News

This couple had a baby. It's amazing! In Africa even! Man, how did they do it? I can't get over it, having a baby.....imagine! They are affectionately known as Brangelina ( Jim and I go by Jarsha, a little known fact).
God, I am so sick and tired of hearing about this baby. Don't get me wrong, I'm happy that all turned out well. But, she's not the first woman to have a baby...they did not invent the process! And papers and magazines are willing to pay millions for the first pictures..Sheesh, I get my baby pictures for free! Young men and women are dying every day in Afghanistan and Iraq ( soon Iran probably), earthquakes and hurricanes are devastating the world, oil companies are getting rich while we can't afford to go for a Sunday drive with the price of gas being so high! And all the news is about is this baby!!!! If I hear anymore about this I am going to scream!!!!!! And as a final thought....think about this - two beautiful people don't necessarily have beautiful children - we have proof positive as mentioned in previous blogs.
I successfully made tea this morning in a new tea pot without melting off the handle. So, so far so good.
By the way, I have started getting a lot of pop-ups and spam e-mails since we started blogging. Anyone else notice this phenomena (I can spell it, but I can't say it..hehehe)? Today looks like it is going to be a beautiful day.. I may lay outside in the sun, not on a beautiful deck, granted, but still, outside. If I can muster up enough energy to shave my legs that is!!!! Hope that's not tmi..(too much information). Well, time to enjoy my tea and a few games of Sudoku before I start the dishes etc. Talk to you all later.

The Weekend

This is a picture of me and my gorgeous son taken last year in Toronto. We were having a celebratory drink because he had just been re-sworn into the Army and he was very happy. He had left the Army a couple of years earlier and was really anxious to get back in. Not a really good picture of him, but he is very handsome!!!!!! The reason I posted this is because he called me last night, and that was the highlight of my weekend!
I had a lousy weekend. I was Oscar the Grouch for no apparent reason other than it was easier to be grouchy than nice. Spent most of the time in bed sleeping. My ear is so itchy it's driving me crazy and I want to rip it off my head. But that would do no good, as the itch is inside my head where it can't be reached unless I poke a knitting needle in there and I don't want to get guck on my knitting needle.
Oh Great! Looks like today is going to continue on the same way...it's only 7:30 a.m, and already things are going wrong. I just melted the handle off my friggin tea pot!!! Now, how am I going to pour my tea????? Already I am in a killing mood! Hang on. BRB. Ahhhhh, Tea! I had to use a small measuring cup to dip into the pot and then into my cup. I have a headache of all headaches...I think it's the antibiotics, they are very strong. While I'm on them I have to limit my consumption of caffeine, which means cut down on the cola and the chololate. Now everyone who knows me, knows that I carry a drink of cola with me at all times. Yesterday I was drinking water (BRAINWAVE - now I know why the headache!). Gads, I should leave you people in peace. I can't even stand myself....may check in later, when and if things improve......Peace all.

Shoppers Drug Mart

This is a very blurry image of the Shoppers Drug Mart Optimum Card. You get points for every purchase including drugs. Now, since we are on a lot of drugs (especially Jim) we get a lot of points. And once you reach a certain amount of points you get to buy $75.00 worth of stuff and you only have to pay the sales tax. That's what we did today. $75.00 worth of stuff cost us $9.00 plus change.
So, what did we buy you may ask (or not...but I'm telling you anyway). Well, I bought a pocket novel (good), six boxes of Kraft Dinner (it was on for 50 cents a box and I love Kraft Dinner), some face wipies (they are supposed to exfoliate, but they don't), and the rest.....well, here we go! Two packages of Bridge Mixture, Three packages of Licorice Allsorts, Two bags of chips, Three bags of Hickory Sticks, Two bottles of Chocolate Milk, One package of M&M's candy, and a few chocolate bars. And Jim is a Diabetic! I probably am too, I haven't had a blood test in years. Man..what a waste. We could have bought a Swiffer thingie (you know what I mean....the mop that makes women dance when they mop the floors)...but no...we need our candy and chips.
So...our secret is out...keep it to yourselves please..don't tell anybody!

Terrorist Cat

Well, I'll try again...I tried to post this blog before and my computer went blooey. This is Lewis the Cat aka The Terrorist of Sunset Circle. Apparently he attacks everyone he sees. He sneaks up behind them and pounces. He is a five year old black and white long-haired cat and has six toes on each foot, therefore causing considerable damage to his victims. Sometimes he tricks them by laying down on his back and looking cute, and when they pet him he kills them (sheesh, Tuffy does that to me all the time)! The thing is, his owner is being charged CRIMINALLY with Reckless Endangerment! She was offered a plea bargain wherein she would serve no jail time if she killed her cat ( they called it euthanasia, but we all know what that means). She refused so I guess it's going to trial. Right now, poor Lews is under House Arrest! I wonder if he has a tracking bracelet on his leg. But imagine...his owner could go to jail!!! Lewis sounds like my kind of cat...he even took on the Avon lady, and that can't be a bad thing, can it? They showed some video of him on TV and he's really cute, but I'm prejudiced because I love cats. I have a cat collection (not real cats...but I have over a hundred figurines). Actually, it's starting to drive me a little crazy....have to dust them! Oh, who am I kidding, I never dust them. Cats like dust.
Anyhoo...went to the Dr. today and I have an antibiotic, ear drops and salve. The ear drops and salve both contain cortisone....so you could say...I am on steroids! Good thing I'm not playing Hockey or Baseball or Tennis or anything at all. Actually, I feel better today...always happens when going to Dr. All of a sudden you feel better. And for the first time in years my blood pressure was absolutely normal - 120/80!!!!! Well, I hope this uploads, cause I'm not writing it again! Later folks.

Woohoo!

Taylor won! Yippee. Man I like his singing. At first I thought he was a complete nut! Didn't like him at all, but his cute little face won me over. And I love his voice! I thought that the show last night was excellent. I wasn't going to watch the full two hours because I figured it would just be a rehash of the last few months. But, with all the surprise guests, and the show they put on, it was fun to watch. I was even smiling (imagine that). And my boyfriend even showed up...Clay Aiken....My idol.
Well, I feel quite worse today. My ear is leaking a clear liquid, the side of my head hurts to the touch and I feel overall grungy! Can't wait to get to the Dr. I slept again for three hours this afternoon and still feel yucky.
Well, if Edmonton wins tonight they go on to the Stanley Cup playoffs. Pleeeaaaaaasssssseeee let them win. I get to involved when watching important games....my heart starts to pound and I actually get faint when the score is close or worse tied. I almost die during Overtime periods. Man, I've seriously got to get a life. Oh, well, at least I have some emotions left...hehehe.
Okay...must go read your blogs. I wrote mine before looking at you guyses just in case you blogged about American Idol...then I wouldn't have anything to say. Later people!

Bobbsey Twins

Sorry Suze, after talking about scary pictures, I couldn't resist it. Aren't we cute?

Brain Dead

Lately I have the brain power of this cute little kittie (although, I am not as cute). Nothing new ever happens here, and I can't think of anything to talk about. Even if I could think of something to talk about , I couldn't talk about it articulately. My memory is shot. If I saw a movie yesterday, I wouldn't be able to tell you the name of it today. When I finish reading a book, I would know if I enjoyed it or not...but don't ask me what it's about!!! I used to be able to compose the most professional of business letters...now I can't even compose a blog for God's sake! You know, the only thing I remember about the Da Vinci code is that Jesus was supposedly married to Mary. I totally forget all the stuff about Opus Dei!! I vaguely remember a Monk who would kill people and then whip himself bloody! What is happening to me!! Can anybody out there help me! Heeelllllllpppppp!!!! I read things, but I don't absorb them....nothing stays in my brain. I see things, but I don't absorb them either. I know it's not Alzheimer's because I still know what a teapot is, and where the bathroom is and, most importantly, where the bed is. (For sleeping guys...get your minds out of the gutter.) I fear it is only going to get worse.
Anyhoo..my Doctor is retiring. I just found out today when I called to make an appointment. I will probably be the last person he sees (as a patient I mean, he's not dying). My ear is bothering me and I think I need an antibiotic. I am going to miss him. Now I will get a Doctor who will stress me totally out about my smoking....and I will have to kill him or her. The problem is, there are no Doctors taking patients, so I may not get one at all. If I get sick I'll have to go to the emergency room and die there after waiting 18 hours or so.
Well...American Idol ends tonight....there's an important hockey game on...so I'll have something to watch anyway. Didn't watch the trial cause I slept most of the day. I think I have an ear infection which is making me not feel very good. I always wait until I am really quite ill before calling the Doctor. I mean, why call right away, when you can drag out the suffering for a couple of weeks? Okay....talk to you all later.....If I can remember.

Live Trial on Court TV

The trial of this man (shoot, didn't get his name) for the murder of a Doctor starts live tomorrow on Court TV. Apparently he's some religious fanatic, and says that God told him to remain silent. However he has been deemed fit to stand trial. His trial judge's name is James Johnson!! I remember that because it's my Grandson's name. Not the one who was sleeping on the couch...the younger one.
I like watching live trials. I like watching the way lawyers sping things around to confuse everybody. The stupid questions they ask...especially the defense lawyers...trying to get the jury's mind off what allegedly happened. I find it quite interesting. And then, of course there's the commentary during breaks...I enjoy most of it except for Nancy Grace! God, I could rant about her all night. As far as she is concerned everybody is guilty, and she makes everything sound so dramatic! She even has her own show on another network. I can't stand watching her. So, I guess that's what I'll be watching tomorrow.
It was cold and dreary here today.....but it's Monday, so I got my floor mopped, all the dishes done and even made the bed! Well, I must go take my blood pressure pills, because 'Deal or No Deal' is coming on, and Jim likes to watch it....and I don't feel like going to bed yet. Later guys.

I Hate Sundays

This is how I feel on Sundays. This is my oldest Grandson by the way. My pride and joy (hehehe). When I was working, I spent the whole week looking forward to the weekend....well Friday and Saturday anyway. On Fridays we didn't do much new work, just sort of cleaned up from the week, and I could stay up late and sleep in on Sat. I never really did like Sunday too much because I spent all day freaking out about going to work on Monday. Anyhoo, now that I am retired, and have no kids around...I find Sat. and Sun. boring boring boring!!!!! There's nothing on TV, the weather is usually bad ----my whole routine is upset. Oh, there are plenty of things I could do. I could wash the kitchen floor, clean out the cupboards, clean the bathroom, wash the walls etc. etc. etc. Or I could read, knit, hook my rug or play my computer games. But on Sundays, I just can't get motivated to do anything! So, I think I will do what my Grandson is doing in the picture....Lie down until the good TV comes on. Hockey game tonight!!!!! Take care all...have a nice Sunday!

Voleicide

This cute little creature is called a Vole. Something like the one my precious cat delivered to us live. It was living in our cupboards, as I mentioned before.

Now..take one mouse trap + one tiny piece of cheese....add one very hungry vole et voila! Dead vole, with it's eyes popping out. He never knew what him! So, now he is gone to a better place...better for me that is. Luckily I put everything into canisters so he couldn't get in my flour and oatmeal etc etc etc.

Nothing new here today...cool and drizzly. Jim has gone to Dave's camp for the weekend so I am free, free, free!!! I can be on the Computer all day without the guilt!

Hockey tonight.....hoping for Edmonton....Go Oilers Go! Talk to you all later.

Larger Font

This is a test to change the size of the font for Dad to read...this is large.

And this is huge...let's see how it looks..by the way..that's Caitlyn. I have baby pics on my computer..and I don't know which babies they are!!!! Sheesh.

My Cat

This is my cat, Tuffy (hence the name Tuffysmom - I didn't name any of my kids Tuffy!). He is, without a doubt the most beautiful cat in the world, including Yarmouth. He is my baby, he loves me....actually He owns Me. Tuffy does have a problem though. He suffers from multiple personality disorder. Inside this cat, are about five different and separate personalities. And he can change from one to the other within seconds, and back again. The cat I fear most is Eviltuffy. When Eviltuffy appears he doesn't even look like regular Tuffy. His eyes become slits, his tail flips around, his ears go back, and usually blood flows!!!! This usually happens while regular Tuffy is getting his tummyrub. I gues Eviltuffy doesn't like it. Hungrytuffy bugs me the most. He sits on the computer desk blocking my view, dipping his tail in my pop, and sometimes laying down on the mouse. Loveytuffy sits on my feet when I watch TV and keeps them warm. Now....Huntertuffy, while still a nice cat, likes to bring me gifts. The other night he brought me a live gift and it now resides with us, since Huntertuffy turned into regular Tuffy and dropped the critter.
Now, about the critter. I believe it lives under the sink, and comes out at night to forage for food in our cupboards. Luckily our butter is in a covered dish, because we have seen droppings right beside the butter dish. I also think it is eating Tuffy's food, since all our stuff is in cans or canisters.
The other night, when all was quiet and I was playing the computer, I heard scratching noises from under the sink..and I froze! I am scared of this little critter! Why? It's not like it's the Alien from the movie Alien. Anyhoo, today we bought two mouse traps, although I think this guy is too small for a mouse trap. I described the critter and we think it's called a vole. I will look it up on the internet and if I find a picture I will post it.
Well, Frank if you are reading, I hung clothes out on the line again today..hahahahaha....Just thought I'd mention it.
Well, that's my comments for today. Back to the dishes....later guys.

My girls

Hi everybody...I wasn't going to 'blog' today, but I just now recieved these pictures from Nfld. Isn't she pretty? Caitlyn I mean!!!! She sure doesn't look like a premature baby. Man I'm glad to see them. Michelle wrote in her E-mail that she was going to check out the blogs, so maybe she reads them, so we better be careful what we say about her. Hahahahaha...ha.

Well, Now I guess I'll go check out the blogs now..I was going to go to bed, and do all this tomorrow, but I'm curious now.

The Hippies just won the million dollars on the amazing race..woohoo! Talk to you later guys...love you all.

Deal or No Deal

Has anybody seen this show! Sheesh! It should be called 'Greed or no Greed' or better still 'Idiot or no Idiot'. Last night a woman gave up $99,000 PLUS the Harley Davidson Motorcycle of her dreams to play on. She ended up going home with only $24,000. GOOD! I hollered at the TV. (This show makes me holler at the the TV all the time - "Take the Deal, Take the Deal". I swear, I am not going to watch this show anymore...it's driving me crazy.

Well Survivor ended and Aras won. I was hoping for Cirie. And so another season ends. And I hope Big Brother will be on during the summer. This is one of my favorites, but I haven't heard a word about it.

No news from my daughter...no pictures either. I will post a picture the minute I get one. Not much going on today, as usual. Just frigging around with the computer, playing some games, and gradually getting the dishes done. So exciting. Gonna go now...probably take a nap. I got up at 5:30 this morning. I wanted a cup of tea sooooo bad! Later guys.

Summmer and stuff

Hello all...finally got to watch Coronation Street today. For those who are interesed, Frankie, shown here, is leaving the show...but not for a while yet. Man it's hard to stay awake that early on Sunday morning. I'll be glad when Hockey is over too, now that none of my teams seem to be doing very well. Although New Jersey did win last night.
I got to sit out in the sun on Friday, it was a beautiful day, as was today. But today, it was so nice I decided to do all the laundry, bedsheets, comforters, clothes..etc etc etc. And I also cleaned up the house. I hung all my clothes on the line. I love hanging clothes on the line, I just hate bringing them in!!!
Can't wait for the big conclusion of Survivor tonight...who will win? The suspense is killing me. I'm glad Shane is gone, he was a nut!!!! I am hoping for Cirie now. Terry pissed me off the other night. Oh, my life is so exciting!!
The little creature that lives in our house ( I think it's a vole) may be in our kitchen cupboard. There were little black thingies that may have been droppings. I should put Tuffy in there and shut the door, since Tuff was the one who brought him in.
Well, tired now after all that work....Happy Mother's Day all! I didn't hear from my kids but that's not strange. Bye bye for now.

The Davinci Code

What's the big deal with The Da Vinci Code? I've heard that the Catholic Church has asked that no Catholics go see the movie. What does that tell you? What are they afraid of? The truth????
I read the book, and it didn't bother me. I was a Catholic..I call myself a non-practicing Catholic now. But even if I was a totally devoted Catholic, I wouldn't be bothered by the thought that Jesus may have been married to Mary Magdelene and that they had a child. Or that their issue still survives today.
The more the Catholic Church denounces it, the more people will be interested in seeing it.
Take a close look at the picture of The Last Supper. The person on His right is a woman! I never noticed it before because I never looked that closely. Some religions are full of secrets and lies.
It's enough for me to just believe in God...a Father that loves us all. Forget all the rituals, and litany, and the fancy dress for the priests...and the money, and the power. In my opinion, that was not God's original plan.
Just my opinion.
It's a book...a fictional book...but...is it REALLY fiction?????

Well, Thanks to this guy, Ray Emery, goalie for the Ottawa Senators, we get to watch another agonizing game between the Sens and the Sabres, who, in my opinion should just shuffle off to Buffalo...Hahahaha..Man I kill myself sometimes.
Anyhoo, not too much going on...Nobody visited, Jim slept all day...I don't think he's feeling too well. But try getting him to go to a Doctor.
I'm getting worried about my new granddaughter....she's not home yet as far as I know. My daughter is very slack when it comes to keeping me updated. However, I know she's always at the hospital, and she has to "pump" every three hours, if you get my drift, so she's not getting much sleep. Probably hasn't been near a computer since the Baby was born.
I will probably break down and call her this weekend. Well, time for tea and some computer gaming. Talk to y'all later

Thursday, May 11, 2006

Hi folks, if anyone's reading. This is how I feel this morning. I had such a busy night, last night. First at 6, I watched Catherine Crier on Court TV, then at 7, a light-hearted hour with The Simpsons and King of the Hill. (Both repeats..but I like them).
But the real work began at 8, when I flipped between a re-run of CSI and the Hockey game..at 9 I had to flip between The Amazing Race and the Hockey game. Man I'm glad the Hippies are still in the race..I'm hoping for them!!!! At 10, I had to flip through Dateline, American Idol and the Hockey game....phew...I was getting exhausted by that time. I'm hoping for Taylor Hicks on American Idol, now that the cutie is gone, whose name I can't even remember. Wait, I remember now - Ace...yes the cute guy.
Bad news, Ottawa lost in OT...one more loss and they are out!
At 11, I started to watch Law and Order, but all that flipping had worn me out and I fell asleep...Missed Larry King. Well, that's it for now..time to get my morning cup of tea.
P.S. I noticed the time of my posting was wrong....like three hours earlier than the actual post. Any ideas on fixing that.

Wednesday, May 10, 2006

I just remembered..today is our 16th wedding anniversary. This is how we look now, not sixteen years ago. I don't have one of our wedding day on the computer - maybe Dad has one he could send me. We are going to celebrate by me watching The Amazing Race in the bedroom and Jim watching something else. I will probably watch part of the Hockey game, assuming there is one tonight. Ottawa not doing so well!

Michelle is home from the hospital, but the baby still is not. She says everything is fine, but they want to make sure the baby is eating properly. Of course I still worry everyday. That's my thing...worrying. Usually the things I worry about never happen, and the things I don't worry about, do happen! Well, bye for now.

Just found out how to add a picture. That's me, jump right in before researching the options! Anyway, this picture was taken at my 60th birthday party - surprise party may I add. And was I surprised!!!! My Dad, Brother, Sister and Her Husband were all there, coming from many miles away. Great time. By the way, this picture was edited by my daughter - she whitened my teeth (blush).
Well, this is my first attempt at blogging. My Sister and Brother both started one, so I thought I'd give it a try. As you can tell by the title 'Couch Potato', I don't do much of anything. Since I retired I have finally started to relax and do whatever I want, whenever I want - much of which consists of sleeping, eating, reading, knitting, watching tv and of course, the ever important playing of computer games.
That's all for now, must see if this works.
